We are very proud to have been chosen as the official engine builder for the newly available Mr. Norm's GSS Hemi Dart. These totally rebuilt legendary 1968 Hemi Darts are being offered on a limited basis to Hemi enthusiasts who want to experience the thrill of owning a piece of American racing history. The cars are being engineered using the most latest high performance technology and will far exceed the original vehicle in both speed and performance. We were the exclusive engine builder for the Skip Barber Cup Car Racing Experience headquartered at the California Speedway in Fontana. Our engines went faster and lasted longer than any engines previously used in the national program. Cup cars powered by VanGordon Racing engines ran at Daytona Int'l Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, Nazareth Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, Phoenix Int'l Speedway, and Las Vegas Motor Speedway. All engines were 358 cu in, 18 degree Chevrolet V8s. Beginning with the 2005 ASA Speed Truck Challenge season we were given the opportunity to become the official engine builder for this highly innovative spec series. By providing each of the GM Performance Vortec 330 HP/350 CI V-8 engines with a complete make over, we can guarantee parity for each engine that leaves our shop. This is a step not taken by any other spec series. The precision work performed in our shop eliminates the guesswork and the variance that all too often occur in factory engines. By offering this equality in competition, the ASA Speed Truck Challenge provides the essence of a true "spec" series. We are extremely proud of our association with the winning team of Benisek and Colteryahn and their 1970 GSX Buick. We designed the chassis setup and have been "tweeking" it for the last 10 years. With Bruce Kent at the wheel, the car took the win light for GS Street Eliminator 4 years running at the GS Nationals in Bowling Green, Kentucky! Oliver Colteryahn took up the driver's seat and won the title in 2005 at the BPG Nationals in Salem, Ohio with an impressive 9.888 run at 134.79 mph. Mighty impressive for a full-bodied monster! He racked up two more titles at the 2005 and 2006 GS Nationals, improving on both time and speed with 9.595 seconds at 139.76 mph. We broke tradition and upset the southern California off-shore crowd when we thoroughly re-designed and built the fastest twin engine off-shore cigarette boat to ever dominate the west coast waters. Each year at the Flat Bottom Regatta in Parker, Arizona, a K-boat with a blown and injected alcohol VanGordon Racing engine is repeatedly challenged by boats from three states and continues to take the top honors year after year. When RKSport decided to build an '05 Pontiac GTO as a way of showing off the company's array of products for that car, the company knew it wanted to tie in the original GTO heritage. They hooked up with Larry Weiner of Performance West Group and his '65 Pontiac GTO and built the two cars as a matched set. Keith Digoia's red and white 56 Chevy in our slide show that is shown leaping out of the lights at Las Vegas is a full bodied car with all glass windows and a 496-cu in, Chevrolet big block with 730 hp that puts on a crowd-pleasing show with every round. Floyd Staggs' turquoise 69 GMC truck weighs 4150 pounds, has a 396-cu in big block Chevrolet engine that puts out 620 hp and goes through the lights at 11.51 seconds! We were extremely honored to race the purple 55 Chevy against all-time great Dyno Don Nicholson, in a special exhibition competition at Pomona Raceway in 1997. Despite our chevy sporting a 706-cu in engine putting out 1461 hp, the mighty legend beat us to the lights! Somehow, we just didn't mind that Dyno Don got there first, especially when he said, "You came real close to almost getting me that time, JimBo!" Mike Face's copper 70 Chevelle was a main feature in Chevy High Performance Magazine, and can also be seen in Popular Hot Rodding, February 2004. At 502-cubic inches and 682 hp, it's a street machine to be reckoned with wherever it cruises. Our engines power street rods, strip cars, boats, racing trucks, and both Super Late and Late Model oval track cars to victory over and over again. Let us build you that special engine that will make you a VanGordon Racing Engines success story! |
