| For over 30 years we have been "addicted" to drag racing, but in 1995 we added a new venue to our racing activities and began oval track racing. We are proud to have been sponsored by Frahm Dodge of Norco, California right from the very beginning when we began racing trucks in the American Race Truck series. We then changed series, and from 1998 through the year 2000, VanGordon Racing ran two Dodge Dakota trucks in the Mechanix Wear Speed Truck Challenge racing series.
With Ron Peterson behind the wheel of the 02 truck, and Jim VanGordon driving the 51 truck, we had a great year! Ron drove the team to the championship in 1999, with Jim coming in 10th in final points. Competition was tough during the 2000 season, and Ron came in with a strong second place with Jim finishing 7th in overall points. In 2001, we began competing in the Ultra Wheel Super Truck racing series, again campaining two Dodge Dakota trucks at our home track, beautiful Irwindale Speedway, LA's 1/2 mile Super Speedway. The series was re-assigned and we are now proud to be racing under the NAPA Auto Parts Super Truck series. After a rocky start with several crashes in the 2003 season we concentrated on campaigning our 41 truck with Ron Peterson again behind the wheel, and put in a great showing toward the end of the year. The last four races of the season saw Ron over power the field by qualifying on the pole for each race, and taking 2 second place and 2 first place finishes. Ron closed out the year as the fifth highest in points in the Ultra Wheel Super Truck series, and took the championship in the Ultra Wheel Super Truck Mini Series The 2004 season went extremely well. We took the championship in the NAPA Auto Parts Super Truck Series! It was a great season and we competed with a superior group of drivers. The points race was close all season long and we squeaked by with only 14 points to take the championship. Ron worked hard for that championship and we're proud of him. The series was re-assigned to the Dodge Super Trucks for the 2005 season and Ron came in second in points for the season. In 2006 the series went through another change to become the NASCAR King Taco Super Trucks Series. Ron and the crew worked their magic again and took the 2006 Championship! Super driving and great teamwork have done it once again! We also introduced some changes for the 2004 season. Besides continuing to campaign the 41 truck, we returned to the thrill of drag racing. In the first effort of the season, we hit the Goodguys March Meet, the most presigious vintage drag racing event in the world! We entered the Nostalia Eliminator II Class and WON! Click here for more info. We finished the season with a solid fourth place, only 3 points out of third, when rain called an early end to the final race in Bakersfield. |
